When a student looks at your design syllabus and says, “Quiz? What’s a quiz?” you can explain to them the value of understanding the “academic” principles of design along with the practical and artistic principles.
About
The Motion Design Lab is the home for the work and research of Daniel Goscha. I am currently an educator and researcher in Graphic Design and Photography at Nicolet College. My research interests include typography in time-based media, applying the principles of graphic design to filmmaking, examining integrative hand-machine processes to create humanisticly driven images and designs not capable of being created by digital processes alone, and the integration of Japanese aesthetics and aesthetic concepts (in particular wabi-sabi and mono no aware) into design and typography. I also try to incorporate traditional print making and letterpress processes in my work when possible and am interested in exploring rural vernacular and culture.
